The disadvantage of such footwear is most often its weight and the fact that it is impermeable to air and the leg in them simply sweats terribly. Work in such shoes in the summer heat is certainly safe, but extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant. If you spend many hours at work, you probably know how important well-chosen footwear is.
